Such a good weekend, I can`t wait untill the next one.

We have had the best weekend ever. I turned of the computer and enjoyed all the free time I got. Our home is now Christmasy and nice, I`ve been sewing and making stuff for Christmas and I just love it, I am truly in love with Christmas and December.

It`s been snowing like crazy here for the last week, and a long with that a lot of traffic chaos and shoveling snow but also a lot of playing in the snow and appreciating how beautiful everything gets. Me and the kids took a walk this morning and it really is winter outside, the kids found new mountains of snow to climb and play in. The yellow building is my sons daycare, he has his skies there and thats what he does all day long, skies.

The kids have been baking gingerbread biscuits and decorating them while I made the traditional knäck(toffee made from cream, sugar and syrup) and ischoklad(ice chocolate made from chocolate and cocoa butter). And of course we drank glögg(mulled wine, non alcoholic).


I also had time to make some hearts of the left over fabric I got when I bought new Christmas curtains for the living room that was to long. And I made some pillows, I`ll take better photographs of them later. 

Winter wonderland for sure.

Yesterday it started snowing and this morning we woke up to a winter wonderland. The kids were over the moon and hurried out to play, my son got hit skis out and stayed out for a couple of hours. Me, I rescued my car, it took a while but I got all the snow of it finally. I like how everybody gets out to shovel snow at a day like this, well you don`t really have a choice if you want to be able to get out of the door, but anyhow, it looks so cozy. I got to try out my new winter boots to, they were way to expensive but I love them and I plan on using them for many many years.
Today is the biggest cleaning day I have, the day before the first advent, so I have been cleaning all day long and I`m not done yet. Tomorrow I decorate for Christmas and for me that day is almost more fun then Christmas day.
I`ve done some sewing as well, I made these stars for the tree. I like them a lot and I`ve cut up a lot of pieces so I`ll be making more of those some day. The white and blue fabric with the gold string is for me and my sister. We like to dress out at Christmas and our mom has hated sailor costumes since we were kids, so that`s what were going to be wearing this year, shes going to scream and laugh and curse, it will be great! 

Walks and pearls.

I had such a nice weekend, the kind that gets you both rested and exited. We all went to our moms and just hung out together, we took a lot of walks with the dog, the kids and the horses. We went out late and we went out early. The best way to start ones day have to be to take a cold walk with a totally over the top exited dog. I also played with my moms horse, I have always been scared of horses so her smallest one realy suits me, he`s small enough to be a dog. I also brought some felt and pearls and stuff so we also sat in the kitchen for hours making hearts for Christmas, it was wonderful. I bought the three packs of pearls last week, these will keep me happy for a long time, so Christmasy.

I call it; Who needs a man anyway.

Done at last.

I`m done. Oh that feels so nice, it took me a while this one but I love it, of course. I wasen`t sure about the gray but I think it turned out nicely.
Now I`m looking forward to some Christmas projects, it`s getting close now and I never have time to do all the things I want so I better get going. First I need to finish the two quilts I`m making for my kids, I am so going to love tucking them in at night when they have there very own quilt, they are going to love it to, I know. And after that, who knows, I`ll just let the Christmas spirit take me and run with it. I so love Christmas.

I need to talk about these two books as well, I am so deeply in love with them, I finished reading them a couple of months ago but I can`t bare to move them from the table by my bed, I love them to much. They are both about Frank McCourt, the author, and his childhood in Ireland and America, it was poor and mostly horrible but this little boy sort of went along with it and found happiness and strength as he went along. The books are the sort that make you think and be happy for months, maybe years I don`t know yet. They bring perspective. The best kind.

Finaly some quilting.

I`ve been so busy with work the last couple of weeks and after all the cooking and cleaning and all that crap that needs to be done all the time I haven`t had time to just sew in so long. This weekend I`m planing to finish my latest quilt though and it`s so much fun, it`s just such a good way to spend a weekend.

Snowy Sunday.

Oh what a nice Sunday. The snow we got is still here and the kids have been outside playing all day long. When I go outside I feel both ways, I feel the cold and isn`t exactly thrilled about that but I also get that tingle in my stomach when I smell the snow. I do love autumn so I`m sad to see that go, but the snow makes it easier to plan for Christmas and thats always a good thing. We just got in from a nice walk in the dark cold and it`s so cosy outside, it makes me want to stay inside and drink chai tea with lots of milk.

I`ve spent my day baking and sewing om my Christmas quilt thats intended for the couch, it`s turning out good and I can`t wait for December first, it might be the best day ever.

We went to the city yesterday and I found three t-shirts that I liked, I almost never buy clothes cause I can`t find anything I like, so I was so exited about these t-shirts. I love them and it feels so good to have something new in my closet.

  

First snow.

It`s an old picture of my baby on his first pair of skies. Today we got our first snow, the kids went crazy and hurried out to play. It`s always fun to see how exited everybody gets about the first snow, me included. It`s just a sort of magic feeling.

I`m making a new one and I can`t be stopped.

I`m making a new quilt. I know I should be focusing on Christmas right now but I just felt the urge to get sewing, so I am. I`ve picked out these fabrics and I`ve cut out all the little pieces I need. I have a feeling about this one, it might turn out amazing. And my kid is sick so I have no work tomorrow, just a long day of sewing. Yey.

A wonderfull night.

My sister and I hosted a little dinner for our grandmother and step grandfather yesterday. We planned and cocked for days, it felt like, and it turned out so good. We spent the night talking, eating, remembering and laughing. It was one of those nights. The smiley one is me and other one is my little sister.

Halloween dress.

I know it`s all shiny and stuff but if you just pretend that you are a seven year old girl for a second... isn`t it wonderful? So much fun to make and my girl is so exited about it.

Having so much fun.

I`m making a Halloween dress for my girl, can`t blog, have to sew...(I really hate shiny fabrics but I`m glad I saved those nasty red and black curtains a friend didn`t want to save, there coming in handy right now. )

Pretty damn good if I may say so myself.

I fixed two lamps yesterday, they`ve been lying under my bed waiting for about a year and yesterday I got to it. They were covered with a crochet lacy thing, to beige for me. I took it of and sewed together four pieces of fabric and sewed it on. I have to say they look great! I`m so bad at buying lamps because I never seem to find any nice ones so these really made a difference, they light up the room so to say.
